Our drawing lessons give the learner a strong understanding of drawing techniques in a wide range of media.  Students start out with basic pencil drawing and are then given the option to try other materials such as colored pencils, charcoal, conte crayon, pastels, and others as they continue to progress and hone their skills.  The lessons stress the importance of “seeing” from an artistic standpoint.  Although some subject matter may be suggested or chosen by the instructor, students are free to choose whatever it is they would like to draw.  We understand that people invest more of themselves in their work when they care about what they are drawing.

Our drawing lessons operate in 1 hour sessions and cost $25 per hour.  In most cases we will work with 2 students during each hour in order to give each student approximately 30 minutes of fully individualized instruction and 30 minutes of studio time to work on their art.  We have chosen this structure so that the instructor can comment on work in progress and offer helpful hints and constructive criticism without constantly staring over the student’s shoulder as they try to learn something new.  If you would prefer completely individualized lessons, they can be arranged.

Supplies you will need*:

• Sketch pad or paper
• Pencils
• Erasers
• Subject – an object or photograph to draw from
• Other materials of choice (charcoal, pastels, water pencils, etc)

*you will not need these supplies for the first lesson
